You have the ability to override the event's given currency for each of your event hotels. Doing so means that when your attendees view an event hotel on the front-end, the rates are displayed in the additional currency!
For example, if you have an event that takes place near the USA/Canada border, and the venue is located in the states, you can set the currency for the event to be in USD. Then, for any hotel that is located in Canada, across the border, you can set its currency to be in CAD.
The following is what this could look like on the front-end:
Notice that the value is denoted as approximate. The event currency value (USD in this case) will also still show up below the overriding event hotel currency.
How to set it up
To set up an event hotel with its own currency, you must first specify what currency the event itself will be using. Head to your event profile's Payments tab. Near the bottom, there will be a Currency drop down menu from which you can select the currency the event will be using. Continuing on with our example, we'll set this to USD.
Next, head to the event hotel profile that needs its own currency. You'll notice that your event hotel profiles now have a
Payments tab of their own! Here, you'll find the fields you're looking for.
Select the event hotel's currency from the Currency drop down, and then provide the exchange rate in the Exchange Rate field that will be used in the rate conversion. At the time of writing this article, the exchange rate was 1.33. Ouch.
Once saved, the event hotel will display on the front-end with the event's currency and its own currency!
